Thank you to all who helped make Christmas so beautiful and joyful at Holy Trinity. First and foremost, thank you to everyone who have desired to receive the sacraments. For example, the week before Christmas so many received the Sacrament of Penance – hours and hours. Beautiful!
Thank you to those who served at Mass in various ways, provided beautiful music, decorated and cleaned the church and helped in many unseen ways.
Finally, thank you to everyone who helped with our Bethlehem Walk this year. It was quite an undertaking to adapt to the restrictions of the time. Many were able to once again experience a ‘stroll’ through Bethlehem.
On December 8, 2020 Pope Francis declared this liturgical to be the year of St. Joseph. It is an inspiration of the Holy Spirit to do so. As we muddle through social and political struggles that carry over from Covid-2020, we are very aware of the workings of the demons. Who is the ‘Terror of Demons’? It is one of the titles of St. Joseph. Joseph: the silent, poor, humble carpenter that Our Lord chose to be His foster-father and virginal spouse of Our Lady. This strong man was the protector of the Holy Family. He was given the title Protector of the Church by Pope Pius IX in 1870 as secular forces sought to kill the pope in Rome.
Perhaps, every one of us can make a new year’s resolution to become more devoted to St. Joseph in 2021. There are many prayers that invoke his powerful intercession – his litany is particularly beautiful. St. Teresa of Avila, the great Carmelite mystic, said Joseph never failed her. Mother (St.) Teresa of Calcutta often went to Joseph for various needs.
To get to know St. Joseph in a deeper way this year, not only are prayers important, but reading the insights of the saints can be helpful. One book that has summarized prayers and insights of St. Joseph is by Fr. Don Calloway. The book is entitled, Consecration To St. Joseph. It is designed to be used within a thirty day preparation for consecration to St. Joseph.
The one human person who loved Jesus and Mary more than any other is St. Joseph. As he protected the God-man and His Mother, Joseph will do the same for us this year. We just need to do as he did and love Jesus and Mary daily!

Gracias a todos los que hicieron la Navidad tan bella y alegre en Holy Trinity. Primero y más importante, gracias a todos los que han deseado recibir los sacramentos. Por ejemplo, antes de Navidad, muchos recibieron el Sacramento de la Penitencia – durante horas y horas. ¡Hermoso!
Gracias a todos aquellos que sirvieron en la Misa de diferentes formas, proveyendo música hermosa, decorando y limpiando la iglesia y ayudando de muchas formas desapercibidas.
Finalmente, gracias a todos los que ayudaron en nuestro Camino a Belén este año. Fue un proyecto increíble para adaptarlo a las restricciones del tiempo. Muchos pudieron experimentar, una vez más, un ‘camino’ a través de Belén.

A lo mejor, cada uno de nosotros puede hacer una resolución del nuevo año para volverse más devoto a San José en el 2021. Hay muchas oraciones que invocan esta poderosa intercesión – su letanía es particularmente bella. Santa Teresa de Ávila, la gran mística Carmelita, dijo que José nunca le falló. La Madre (santa) Teresa de Calcuta acudió a menudo a San José para varias necesidades.
Para llegar a conocer a San José de una forma más profunda este año, no solo las oraciones son importantes, sino leer las percepciones de los santos puede ayudar. Un libro que ha sumarizado oraciones y conocimientos de San José fue escrito por el Padre Don Calloway. El libro se llama, Consecration To St. Joseph (Consagración a San José). Está designado para ser usado dentro de treinta días de preparación para consagrarse a San José.
La única persona que amo a Jesús y a María más que cualquier otra persona es San José. Así como protegió al Dios-hombre y a Su Madre, José hará lo mismo por nosotros este año. ¡Sólo necesitamos hacer lo que el hizo y amar a Jesús y a María diariamente!
