Here at Holy Trinity we have a public image of Our Lady of Fatima in the Narthex available for veneration by the faithful. She will be placed in the center of the Narthex on the 13th of each month and we encourage you to bring your friends and family to Holy Trinity to attempt to obtain this unique indulgence. Additionally, on the 13th of each month we welcome you to join us as we pray the rosary together in the Narthex at 7PM.
What is an indulgence? An indulgence is a remission (cancellation of a debt) before God of the temporal punishment due to sins that have already been forgiven in the sacrament of confession. The Church has been given the privilege and responsibility, through Jesus (John 20:22-23), to be the minister of redemption on earth. The Church uses this authority to grant spiritual favors to the faithful who are willing to participate in works of devotion, penance, and charity. An indulgence allows the faithful to “tap into” the spiritual treasures of the Church that have been made available through Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection, the prayers and good works of our Blessed Mother, and the prayers and good works of the saints. When we participate in these generous opportunities for grace, we can help the faithfully departed receive a remission of their temporal punishment too!
