Religious Education at Holy Trinity

childrenJesus said to them, "Let the children come to me, do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God...Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it. And He took them in His arms and blessed them, laying His hands upon them" ~Mark 10:14-16

Welcome to Holy Trinity Catholic Church! Please know that Holy Trinity is your spiritual family, you and your children are home here.

The mission of Faith Formation at Holy Trinity Catholic Church is to model our families after the Holy Family, thus creating a Christ-centered home. We honor the parents’ God-given role of raising their children in the Faith, and empower them to fulfill this holy privilege and responsibility so that one day we may all partake in the Beatific Vision of the Blessed Trinity.

Realizing that God has created all things for His glory and our benefit, the challenge of being a living witness to the Gospel will be central to the development of each student. Therefore, at Holy Trinity, understanding Jesus and His message is essential to knowing Him, loving Him, and serving Him in this world, so that we can be happy with Him forever in Heaven. That being said, the Church has consistently taught that the parents, through the sacramental grace received through their marriage and with the baptism of the child, have been gifted with the means needed to pass on the Faith to their children.  The Church is to have a supporting role and the parish is to become more involved during the years of sacramental preparation.

“Parents must be acknowledged as the first and foremost educators of their children. Their role as educators is so decisive that scarcely anything can compensate for their failure in it….The right and duty of parents to give education is essential…and it is irreplaceable and inalienable, and therefore incapable of being entirely delegated to others or usurped by others.” (Familiaris Consortio, #36)

The core elements listed below form the foundation and strength of Holy Trinity's Religious Education Program. With these we seek to cultivate the hearts, minds, and souls of our families to their fullest potential.

  • Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture are the two components making up our Catholic Faith.
  • Traditional Catholic Doctrine faithful to the magesterium of the church is taught.
  • The promotion of frequent reception of the Sacraments of Penance and Holy Eucharist is stressed.
  • Devotion to Mary is encouraged because she is the Mother of God and the Immaculate Conception.
  • Studying the lives of the saints gives us examples of people with great virtue.
  • The importance of prayer (Holy Hours, the Rosary, Novenas, and participation in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass) is stressed as a source for growth in the spiritual life.

It is important for all Catholic children to be registered with the Religious Education Office, even those attending a Catholic School or Homeschooling.

Faith Formation 2020-2021 Come and See!

The Religious Education (RE) Office invites you and your family to learn more about the Catholic faith while growing together in your relationship with Jesus Christ. In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the RE office will be offering home-based, virtual classes during the 2020-2021 year which will include live video conferences with Holy Trinity catechists. There is also an option for a monthly on-campus parent meeting followed by 2 weekly virtual meetings with a catechist.

The goals of the program are to offer classes that are easily accessible and that are parent directed. We hope to equip our parish parents so that they will embrace their God-given role as the primary educator of their children in the Faith. Registration for the RE program will be online and will begin soon. You will be able to access registration information on our parish website. Please note: families must be a Holy Trinity parishioner to register for RE classes. If you would like more information about parish membership or classes, please contact the RE Office at 571-248-3120

All of Faith Formation Classes this year will be taught by the family at home with the support of a catechist. Parents will watch a video and attend a virtual meeting 3 times a month. Each week, the parent will present the material to the whole family together. On the fourth week of the month families will be invited to participate in a parish based community event that will be outside and will enable us to practice social distancing. It is important that our families have a community of faith in which to raise their children.

New to the Faith? Coming back to the Faith?

On Wednesday evenings, from 7:00pm-8:30pm at the parish we offer special faith formation classes for these families. These classes are also for children who have not been enrolled in the parish RE program since 2018-2019 and are returning for formation and sacramental preparation. ALL parents are required to attend the weekly RCIA classes offered free of charge by our parish priests. These classes are offered at the same time as the classes for the children. These classes are ONLY offered in person this year. There will be precautions taken for the families who participate to protect against exposure to the COVID-19 virus. For more details on these precautions and these classes, please contact Margi Loesel at or Stacy Byrne at
