HE IS RISEN! ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!
Easter is the crowning of Jesus’ victory over sin and death. Jesus’ victory began on Holy Thursday evening at the Last Supper as He gave us Himself in the Holy Eucharist. It is the same Jesus – albeit in His Resurrected state – Who becomes really, truly present on our altars at every Mass. Good Friday was Our Lord’s Sacrifice of Himself to atone for our sins. He Who knew no sin was made sin for us on the Cross. It is the actual Re-Presentation of Jesus’ Sacrifice on Calvary that is enacted at every Mass. Finally, His Resurrection on Easter Sunday is the source of our faith and hope in Him and our future resurrection.
What love our God shows us in His Redemption! Our God is not a God who is in some far off world. He Who is all-powerful chooses to create the human race; knowing that we will offend Him; and choosing to become one of us to allow us to put Him to death on the Cross – ALL FOR OUR GOOD. Should we not be attracted to Him in the Mass, in the Holy Eucharist?!
What a joy to spend Easter with Jesus in the Holy Eucharist! What a joy to receive Him in Holy Communion! What a joy to be with the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Apostles in their joyful experience of Our Lord’s Rising from the dead!
